Parents, lay off the drugs when you’re naming your children. No seriously, just read this little ditty about Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii.

Don’t Drink and Procreate!

Nancy Pelosi takes ignorance to a new level

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

The folks over at Chicago Boyz are reporting that Nancy Pelosi is pushing to bring back the “Fairness Doctrine” which would require any member of congress wishing to post any opinions on any internet site to obtain approval from the “Democratic leadership of Congress”.

So let me get this straight, if my congressman/woman wanted to share their information with me as a constituent and a member of the public they’d have to get permission.

This goes beyond ignorant to just plain stupid, crooked and in my opinion straight up evil.

Make some noise people, write your reps, senators and Nancy Pelosi and let them know that this is an insane idea and must be squashed.

Thanks
Eric

Oil up on forecast that oil prices will rise …??? wait, what.

Friday, June 6th, 2008

Ok I was going to hold off on posting until I got the design how I wanted it, but what the heck this story just makes me want to smack the investors and speculators(If anyone out there knows one please smack them for me). Basically the story is that Oil closed at a record high today based on the weakening dollar and analyst forecasts that oil will reach $150.00 a barrel.

Oh and doesn’t it figure I go on vacation next week which starts out with a 900 mile drive. Figures.

check out the story at
http://money.cnn.com/2008/06/06/news/economy/gas_prices/index.htm?cnn=yes

Does it strike anyone else as asinine that now we’ve got the price of a barrel of oil rising on the prediction that the price of a barrel of oil is going to rise? Let’s try the same logic. I predict that my hourly pay rate will rise by 40% in the next 30 days. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Here’s my thought on the subject (Presidential Candidate’s I’m looking at you). We need to set a maximum price per barrel we’re willing to tolerate. Obviously we still have to buy it if it goes above that price but we include a penalty for the companies selling it. What is that penalty. For every x dollars above the maximum price we (The U.S. Government) donates y dollars to alternative energy research.

The plan’s not perfect, you have to create methods to ensure that the funds don’t go straight back to the companies over charging you, but hey there are much smarter people than me in this world. I’m sure that someone can come up with a way to make this work.
